“Kevin Hart is a fantastic ambassador for the City of Philadelphia, and this is a simple way to show him gratitude,” said Councilman-at-Large David Oh who submitted the resolution to council.
And Hart, who is very active on social media, was rather silent on the matter until Friday, where he had nothing to show but love toward the city he once called home.
"I love my City.....I'm blown away by this," he said in an Instagram post. "Philadelphia we will be Celebrating My B Day on Kevin Hart Day....How dope is that. The summers will never be the same damn it!!!!! Kevin Hart Day is about to be in full effect."
July 6 is Hart's birthday. He'll turn 38 on the first official Kevin Hart Day.
Hart grew up near 15th Street and Erie Avenue and attended George Washington High School in the Northeast. He went on to study at the Community College of Philadelphia and Temple University.
Hart has donated about $300,000 to Philadelphia schools since rising to fame.
The actor and comedian has been filming his movie "Untouchable," starring himself and Bryan Cranston around Philadelphia.
