In a Q&A this week with Bon Appetit magazine, apparent food connoisseur Kevin Bacon was asked which diner he misses the most -- because, you know, he starred in a film called "Diner" way back when.
Bacon had this to say on the subject, to the delight of Melrose Diner indulgers everywhere:
Bon Appetit: One last thing: It’s been awhile since your breakthrough performance in Diner. As you get older, what’s one diner you still miss?
Bacon: We used to go down to the Melrose Diner. It’s 24 hours and down in South Philly—a big old diner. You’d party as a kid and then end up at Melrose.
BA: What was your go-to order there?
Bacon: Oh, I don’t remember that. Come on; it was a long time ago!
It's not the first time Bacon, who stars in the new indie film "Cop Car," brought up the Snyder Avenue diner in an interview, either.
From the Chicago Tribune, when asked about good eats in Philly:
"Also, Melrose Diner. It's a great place to get something to eat after you've been hanging out. You'll have a waitress call you, 'Hon' and just make you feel at home. It's a Philly thing. They always call you, 'Hon.'"
So yes, Kevin Bacon has yet to forget his Philly roots. Thanks for the shoutout, Hon.
