The individual seen in this image taken by a surveillance camera, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping following the March abduction of a four-month-old child.

A 17-year-old male wanted for allegedly abducting a 4-month-old who was inside a van that Philadelphia police said the teen stole from West Philadelphia has turned himself in to authorities.

After allegedly taking the vehicle last month, the suspect left the infant of on a Fairmount sidewalk not far from the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

According to police, the teen surrendered to officers in the 18th District. Police earlier had received an anonymous tip that revealed the suspect's identity, authorities said.

The suspect, whose name was not released, has been charged with kidnapping and related offenses.

According to police, these charges stem from an incident that occurred March 14 at 7:50 a.m. A 32-year-old man parked his 2013 White Chrysler Town and Country van at 4847 Walnut St. before going into a food store to shop.

He left his 4-month-old unattended in the vehicle with the engine running, according to police. The unattended vehicle was stolen. About a half hour later, the child was found unharmed on a sidewalk at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Green Street.

Law enforcement officials said Friday that the release of surveillance footage showing the theft of that vehicle led to an anonymous tip revealing the identity of the individual believed responsible for the crime.
