Police say a man has been released without charges after he shot and killed a dog that attacked a 4-year-old boy in Juniata Park.
Officers were called to the 4600 block of Shelbourne Street around 2:40 p.m. on Monday. There, they were met by a mother who said the family dog attacked her son, causing injuries to the boy's face, ear, shoulder area, lower back and abdomen.

The woman said she struggled to contain the dog in the backyard while her son was taken away to safety. After she had trapped the dog in the backyard, she went to the front of the house.
The woman then heard a loud noise. She went to a window and saw the dog lying motionless.
The boy was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and is reported to be in stable condition. The man who shot the dog was initially taken away in handcuffs, footage from NBC10 shows.
The man has since been released and was not charged with a crime, police said Tuesday.
