Science on Tap is a monthly event, held on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. in National Mechanics. Each month a new science-related topic is discussed over beers. July's subject is strange practices of 19th-century physicians.
The Mutter Museum is sponsoring the talk, which will cover body-snatching, organ collecting and fraud in the century. Evi Numen, exhibitions manager at the museum, will lead the discussion.
Here's a taste of what's in store, taken from Science on Tap's event description:
A one-eyed horse thief becomes the epicenter of a national scandal post-mortem, a 'petrified body' is donated to a local museum, a fetal specimen is obtained from a dying woman and a jar of anonymous epileptic brains raise questions about how these specimens were collected and the scientific studies they were collected for.
The event is free to attend. You'll just need to buy your own beers and arrive early to nab a seat.
