Joe Biden will speak at two Ivy League schools' commencement events

Former Vice President Joe Biden will speak at two Ivy League universities' commencement-related events.

But it’s not the University of Pennsylvania, despite his post-White House gigs with Penn. And it also doesn’t look like he’ll be speaking at his alma mater, the University of Delaware, either.

Instead, Biden will be sharing his wise words with the graduates and their supporters at both Harvard and Cornell in May.

According to the Cornell Chronicle, Biden will be delivering the keynote address during the school's senior convocation ceremony on May 27 as part of Cornell’s 149th Commencement Weekend.

Matthew “Chewy” Baumel, a member of Cornell's class of 2017 who is chairing the student-run 2017 Convocation Committee that selected Biden as its speaker, told the Cornell Chronicle, “No matter what you believe politically, you must respect his outstanding character, leadership and decadeslong service to our country, as well as how he has overcome personal adversity. He is a true American."

The event will be livestreamed on CornellCast.

Biden is also expected to speak at Harvard University as its Class Day speaker on May 24, Harvard Magazine reports.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to speak to this year’s graduating class about the great power they hold to shape our nation’s future,” Biden told the magazine in a statement, calling today's generation of students "the most engaged, the most tolerant, and the best educated in the history of the United States of America."
