Northern Liberties will soon be getting a new BYOB to replace the former Il Cantuccio at the corner of North Third St. and Fairmount Avenue.
The concept comes from Tony Schiro, who previously owned The Latest Dish and Fluid nightclub in Queen Village. In the time since Schiro sold Fluid in 2013, he's had a son, now three years old, whose name will be honored with the grand opening of Jaxon some time during the second week of March.
According to Eater Philly, the BYOB will be a comfy, farm-focused restaurant led by chef Ed Conwell, who recently worked at Kinella South and Vernick, and sous chef Doug Dreisbach of Bella Vista's Little Fish.
In advance of the launch, Schiro has shored up partnerships with local distributors and CSA's including Greensgrow, Zone 7, Plowshare Farms, and Overbrook.
Michael Klein of The Insider reports that Jaxon will be a casual spot with prices in the "two dollar signs" range, for those who live by Yelp. A menu is forthcoming and Schiro hopes to open Jaxon's doors on March 9.
