Irate Mets fan rants against NJ Transit after delays cause him to miss Opening Day ceremonies

Public transportation is normally a pretty good way to travel to a ball game, especially because you don’t have to pay 20 bucks to park upon arrival at the stadium. In major cities like New York and Philly, you also can also avoid traffic (like I-95’s never-ending construction) by taking the train.

Unfortunately for commuter Frank Fleming, a Monday morning derailment at Penn Station caused delays for the entire New York area, which made it difficult for him to attend the New York Mets home opener. Local news in New York put a camera in front of a flustered Fleming at Secaucus Junction, and let’s just say he didn’t hold back on NJ Transit:

Fleming later informed NBC New York that he was able to make it to Citi Field for the Mets’ 6-0 win over the Atlanta Braves, but only after the opening day ceremonies. In total, it took Fleming five hours to get from his home in New Jersey to Queens:

“I didn’t see the first pitch. I don’t even know who threw out the first pitch. I didn’t get to see the national anthem. I didn’t get to cheer Cespedes when they introduced him. I didn’t get to cheer Bartolo Colon’s return.”

When it comes to frustrating NJ Transit experiences, many of us certainly can sympathize with Frank.
