The holiday season is upon us.
For the 5,000 members of IBEW Local 98, many of whom have families, this is a special time of year. All of us at Local 98 are grateful for the family-sustaining wages and terrific benefits we enjoy as union members, but we’re also cognizant of the fact that many others in the Greater Philadelphia region need a helping hand, especially during the holidays.
It’s for that reason that IBEW Local 98 (pardon the pun) gobbles up the opportunity to provide turkeys as well as full turkey dinners to the less fortunate in our community and to the kind-hearted non-profit organizations that serve them throughout the year.
For the 2023 holiday season, Local 98 will be delivering more than 1,500 turkeys to many local non-profit organizations that serve the needy in our region, including the Philadelphia-based St. Frances DeSales Church, Pastor Buddy Osborn’s Rock Ministries and WMGK-FM’s Turkey Drive, started by our friend and recently retired DJ, John DeBella. In addition, we’re delivering 250 turkeys to the Cornerstone Church in Wilmington, DE. A couple of days before Thanksgiving, we’ll be handing out another 500 turkeys from the parking lot of an Acme Supermarket in South Philadelphia to local non-profits that need them
Local 98’s holiday spirit of giving also stretches into Montgomery County, home to our 98 North suburban operations. Just prior to the Thanksgiving, we’ll be delivering 45 to 50 full turkey meals to the Patrician Society in Norristown, a terrific non-profit that aids the elderly on fixed incomes, the homeless, and parents of young children who are on fixed incomes.
During this season of giving, IBEW Local 98 will once again be doing our part to help the less fortunate in our community. We wish you and yours a wonderful, peaceful and blessed holiday season!
