One pressing issue in America is food waste, and Old City's High Street on Market wants to talk about it over dinner.
Monday, Feb. 11, the restaurant will host the Odd Bits and Misfits Dinner. It's pay-what-you-wish and starts at 7 p.m.
According to High Street, the dinner will "showcase creative ideas and food products that are recycled, upcycled, underappreciated and environmentally friendly."
Joining High Street on Market's chef Andrew Farley will be the restaurant's sustainability expert Ana Caballero, as well as Angelina Branca from Sate Kampar and Rich Landau from Vedge.
Below is a rundown of the evening.
7 p.m. – Enjoy cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres.
7:30 p.m. – Everyone is seated for dinner. House-cured charcuterie and fermented vegetables will be at the table. Introduction to the dinner given by Caballero.
7:45 p.m. – First course is served and dish explained.
8:30 p.m. – Main course is served and dishes explained.
9 p.m. – Dessert is served and dishes explained.
"The issue of waste awareness has always been a focal point for us, and this dinner seeks to inspire and open up dialogue with others in the community," said Eli Kulp, High Street co-owner and culinary director.
Throughout the dinner, High Street will highlight products, purveyors and organizations with a waste-not philosophy.
