High Street on Market wants to highlight the brewers, distillers, farmers, fishermen, butchers and other local artisans of the region in its new Producer Dinner Series.
The first dinner will take place on Tuesday, July 18. Highway Manor Brewing Co.'s brewmaster/owner Johnnie Leroy Compton III is the guest of honor.
A special four-course menu for $65 per person that includes Highway Manor beer pairings will be available to dinner guests. Below is the menu.
• Scallop ceviche with corn, jalapeño and tomato, paired with Sayjohn Saison, a juicy hopped saison with tart acidity and a complex, dry profile
• Grilled peach salad with pork belly and burrata, paired with Mr. Strawberry, a complex, fresh fruit sour beer with a dry, acidic finish
• Beef back ribs with elderberry barbecue, paired with Funky Prowler, a barrel-aged dry Irish stout brewed with sour yeast cultures for sharp sourness and a dry-roasted finish
• A special surprise dessert, paired with a fourth Highway Manor beer
"[Compton's] sour beers are especially compatible with chef Jon Nodler’s boundary-pushing food, smartly complementing the flavors that he creates through fermentation and other lesser-used techniques," states a press release on the event.
Upcoming Producer Dinners will include:
Thursday, July 27 - Valley Milkhouse with cheesemaker Stefanie Angstadt
Tuesday, Aug. 8 - La Divisa Meats with chef Nick Macri
Tuesday, Aug. 15 - Don Ciccio & Figli
