Rejoice, scrapple lovers, for there's a new, cutlery-free way to consume your favorite breakfast meat.
Shank's Original Pier 40, the cheesesteak and sandwich joint on Columbus Boulevard, recently launched a breakfast menu that includes scrapple fries. For $4, you can get an order of the scrapple strips to start your day at the South Philly location.
BillyPenn notes that Shank’s now opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays, a nod to the shop's original location in the Italian Market, which was a breakfast spot in its early days. Additionally, nearby competitor John’s Roast Pork recently pushed its early opening hour to 9 a.m.

Along with the scrapple fries, the new Shank's breakfast menu includes some massive breakfast sandwiches. The Gonzo is stuffed with three eggs, scrapple, bacon, cheese, French fries and hot sauce, while The Fatso features steak, eggs, bacon, pork roll and cheese.
Known for its chicken cutlet sandwich, Shank's formerly had an additional location at 15th and Sansom streets, but that spot closed in 2011. That development brought great sadness to this author, as Shank's is his favorite cheesesteak in the city and he currently works a stone's throw away from what's now a taco joint (also good, to be fair).
Shank's is located at 901 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd. A full breakfast menu can be found here.
