Philadelphia University's basketball coach Herb Magee earned his 1,000th career win as the Rams' defeated Post by a score of 80-60 on Saturday.
Magee, now in his 48th season with the private Division II university, became just the second NCAA men's basketball coach to win 1,000 games, joining Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, 6 ABC reports. (He is the 4th men's college basketball at all levels to reach 1,000 wins, according to USA Today.)
The team advanced to 15-6 on the year as celebration spread over Magee's accomplishment.
"We've averaged almost 21 wins a season for 48 years," Magee told ESPN after the game. "The biggest thing that I always tell our players is don't worry about individual accolades. What you want to do is worry about how well your team does...so I try to put it a little on the back burner, but to be honest, it means a lot."
