William Trout Wolf, Gov. Tom Wolf's father, died at the age of 95, according to the governor's press office.
"Arrangements are pending. In the meantime, we ask that the family's privacy be respected during this difficult time," said Jeff Sheridan, Gov. Wolf's spokesperson.
Gov. Wolf was forced to cancel Friday meetings as well as an appearance at the Sept. 11 observance at the Flight 93 National Memorial outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Wolf suffered a heart attack in 2015, the governor announced at a Rotary Club of York luncheon last July. His father was the oldest member of the organization, PennLive.com reported.
Funeral arrangments have not yet been announced.
Public officials offered their condolences on social media Friday evening.
