Google Maps now reminds users where they parked their car

If you own a car in Philadelphia, you might want to consider getting this new app update.

Google Maps now has a handy new feature that reminds users where exactly they parked their car, the company announced Tuesday.

The new trick was beta-tested for Android carriers in March, but it's a whole new experience for iOS users.

Got an Apple iPhone? Here's how it works.

First, tap the blue dot that shows your current location and select the option, "set as parking location." That'll create a small dot with the letter "P" in the location that users can click and see the exact address and images of the area. The feature also allows users to share the spot with friends.

Google Maps said in the announcement Tuesday that the feature is an addition to the "automatic parking detection" that's added once a phone is hooked up to a car's USB or Bluetooth.

The experience isn't much different for Android users. To save a spot, users first click on the blue dot, select "save your parking" and then can add other details or even photos. Android users can also share the location with friends.

Apple Maps already has a feature that allows users to save their parking locations.
