A few days ago, media reports started ringing the death knell for Microsoft Paint, the more than 30-year-old, rather basic graphic design tool.
As The Guardian noted, the app became a core part of Windows. But as part of its upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft said there wouldn't be an update for Paint.
Well, fear not, Paint fans. Microsoft said Monday that after the outpouring of support for the app, the company wanted to make clear that it would still be available:
If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans. It’s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app. Amidst today’s commentary around MS Paint we wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight, clear up some confusion and share some good news:
MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.
