Eagles receivers are dropping much of what Carson Wentz throws directly at them, even if they don’t want to hear about it. And over the past 24 hours, a big name from the not-too-recent past threw his hat into the ring as a possible replacement: Terrell Owens.
T.O. was asked by an Eagles fan if he could come back and bolster what is currently a struggling receiving corps:
The last time that Owens was on an NFL roster was August 2012, but just in case you were wondering, he’s ready to bring back the halcyon days of 2004 (and make you forget about 2005):
The 42-year-old receiver/lightning rod didn’t get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot, but his time should come soon. It’s not realistic for him to play in the NFL again — For reference, the current Eagles receivers coach is Greg Lewis, a former teammate of Owens who is also six years younger — but the fact that Birds fans are desperate enough to ask him about a potential comeback sums up the sorry current state of the receiving corps pretty well.
