Glassdoor on Tuesday released a report on the 25 Best Cities for Jobs, ranking cities based on three factors.
Philadelphia did not make the list.
The study, which considered three factors - cost of living, hiring opportunity and job satisfaction – equally, said Raleigh is the best city to find a job.
The North Carolina city was joined in the top five by Kansas City, Mo., Oklahoma City, Austin and Seattle.
San Francisco ranked highest for job satisfaction, San Jose led cities for hiring opportunity and Detroit ranked highest for best cost of living.
Philadelphia was 40th on the list of America's 50 most populated cities, ranking 31st for hiring opportunity, 29th for cost of living and 39th for job satisfaction.
Philadelphia did rank higher overall than some other notable big cities, including New York City (41), Phoenix (42), Los Angeles (43) and Miami-Fort Lauderdale (44).
According to Glassdoor, hiring opportunity is determined by the ratio of active job openings to population; cost of living is determined by the ratio of median annual base salary to median metro home value; and job satisfaction ratings per metro is based on at least 1,000 company reviews shared by local employees on Glassdoor over the past year (4/28/14-4/27/15).
