Girlfriend charged with murder in death of Darby police officer

The girlfriend of Officer Mark Hudson, who was shot dead in his home Saturday, has been charged with first and third degree murder, 6 ABC reports.

Tyaina Finch, 27, was arraigned on Monday while in the hospital for seizures due to diabetes. The charges against her come from an incident that occurred in August when she allegedly threatened Hudson with a knife.

Authorities say an argument about Hudson wanting to break off his relationship with Finch may have led to the shooting. Hudson was shot with his own service revolver from about four feet away, according to police.

Darby Police Chief Robert Smythe told 6 ABC that Hudson had a tumultuous relationship with Finch:

"I believe absolutely he was afraid of this woman."

Police have already responded to several calls of domestic disputes at Hudson's home in Darby Township. Hudson had gone to court in January to try and file a restraining order against Finch. The charges against her regarding the incident Saturday include making terroristic threats, simple assault and possession of an instrument of crime.

Funeral arrangements for Hudson are set for Saturday.
