Cider lovers and casual sippers are welcomed to the inaugural Atlantic City Cider Social (say that 10 times fast) Saturday, Aug. 8. To celebrate the increasing popularity of the alcoholic version of the fruit-based beverage, local and national cider and mead brewers will head down to AC for a thirsty festival.
Thirty cider and mead brewers like Johnny Appleseed, Strongbow and Woodchuck will be in attendance, but it won't be a drinks-only affair. Local food exhibitors, cooking demonstrations and cider seminars are all part of the day's events.
The Cider Social describes itself as a "downhome American" experience - though maybe it's just trying to counter all this hot weather with some fall-tinged wishful thinking - with bobbing for apples, caramel apples and apple pie to eat atop checked picnic tables. They encourage guests to dress in denim, and live folk music will be played, too.
The social will be held in two sessions, with each ticket including cider samples, a tasting cup and entertainment.
