This January, try something new. Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs have tons of arts & crafts class options, where participants can learn a new skill and go home with something handmade.
Below is a roundup of classes to try this month. One is for children, while the rest are for adults.
Children are invited to the Art Dept. for an afternoon craft session. All materials will be provided to make whimsical winter-themed crowns.
At home, kids can use their handmade craft to play pretend as Elsa from Disney's "Frozen," as a winter fairy or as whatever character their imagination creates.
Saturday, Jan. 21

Adults are invited to this dreamcatcher class in Conshohocken, where an instructor will lead attendees in making a Pinterest-worthy creation.
Bring a bottle of wine and make it a night out with friends. The intimate class is limited to 12 participants.

Get a jump-start on Valentine's Day with this card-making class. Give your significant other or friends something handmade this year.
Attendees will stamp, heat emboss, make envelopes, hand letter and pleat paper during the session. At the end, participants will go home with four cards for their loved ones.

In this two-day class, attendees will create a photogravure. By using a 19th century technique, attendees will transfer an image produced from a photographic negative to a copper plate.
