Famed South Philly cheesesteak destination (and point of debate among Philadelphians) Geno’s Steaks announced the arrival of an online retail store earlier this year, offering up apparel, mugs, tote bags, and other merch to aficionados of the eatery.

With a ribbon cutting and appearance by Councilman Mark Squilla, Geno’s Gear officially opened its brick-and-mortar component to the public Friday, just across the street from the cheesesteak shop.

“Opening the Geno’s Gear storefront is a very exciting milestone for Geno’s Steaks,” said Owner Geno Vento in a statement.

“When we launched GenosGear.com back in February, we knew we also wanted to open a retail store where locals and visitors alike would be able to get their Geno’s Steaks merchandise while in town. We wouldn’t be who we are today without all of our devoted customers.”

Inside the new store, customers can shop for Geno's-emblazoned items ranging from hats to hoodies to key-chains. The ceiling of the store is decorated with a map that resembles South Philly, and also includes memorabilia from Geno’s late founder, Joey Vento.

The store is located at 1223 East Passyunk Avenue.
