Budget airline Frontier has added 10 new nonstop routes from Philadelphia to cities in the South and Midwest, including Austin, Texas, New Orleans and St. Augustine, Florida, the company announced Thursday.
The Denver-based airline is rapidly expanding and added 42 new routes total throughout the U.S., offering introductory prices as low as $39 for some one-way routes. Below are the basic one-way fares from the newly added cities to Philadelphia International Airport (each route flies three times a week unless otherwise noted):
•Austin: $99, route starts on May 15
•Cincinnati: $59, starts May 13, four flights a week
•Cleveland: $59, starts April 15, four flights a week
•Kansas City: $84, starts June 2
•Milwaukee: $69, starts June 2
•Nashville: $69, starts April 15, four flights a week
•New Orleans: $84, starts April 14
•Raleigh: $59, starts April 14
•St. Augustine: $69, starts April 15, four flights a week
•Indianapolis: $59, starts April 14
The new routes set up Frontier to compete with American Airlines, the current dominant airline at PHL. While Frontier is known for cheap tickets, it charges extra for carry-on bags, snacks and basically everything else.
The staggered schedule gives time for Frontier to roll out 18 new planes that it has ordered, USA Today reported.
