Free movie series comes to Reading Terminal Market

Spend Wednesday nights, after-hours, in the marketplace

Bassetts Ice Cream, owned by Reading Terminal Market Merchants Association Vice President Michael Strange, has been in business at the market since 1892. The counter, pictured, has never left the market.

Reading Terminal Market is opening its doors after-hours for a free, monthly Wednesday night movie series starting Jan. 27. A select few merchants will stay open, as well, to provide drinks and snacks for purchase. 

Choose among Bassetts Ice CreamFlying Monkey BakeryHershel's East Side DeliJonathan BestOld City CoffeePennsylvania General StoreSpataro's Cheesesteaks and The Original Turkey. Molly Malloy's will also serve happy hour deals from 6-7 p.m.

The first movie scheduled is "Chef," staring Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. The storyline follows a chef that starts up a food truck business after losing his restaurant job.  

Following opening night, Reading Terminal Market will play the following list:

• February 11: "An Affair to Remember"
• March 17: "Little Shop of Horrors"
• April 14: "National Treasure"
• May 12: "Burnt"
