Spend a day out-and-about with your four-legged BFF at Petapalooza

Animals looking for forever homes will be there, too

Carroll - Pug Dog at Navy Yard Thom Carroll/PhillyVoice

A dog waits for its owner outside a building at the Navy Yard in South Philadelphia.

Chestnut Hill will host the fourth annual Petapalooza on Sunday, July 9, along Germantown Avenue. Pet owners are invited to spend the afternoon in the neighborhood and take advantage of special activities for their four-legged friends.

At the pet-friendly (and family-friendly) celebration, there's plenty to do. Specifically for the animals, there will be a doggy pool, a paw reader, a pet caricaturist and treats. There will be dog training exhibitions, on-site veterinarians and pet service vendors, too.

Children who attend can enjoy a bouncy house, face painting, arts & crafts and a petting zoo.

At the Woodmere Art Museum, there will be special pet-friendly tours of the grounds and sculpture garden beginning at 2 p.m.

Hungry attendees can head to pet-friendly Yappy Hour at Chestnut Grill, El Poquito, Paris Bistro, Top of the Hill Café and MARKET at the Fareway. Specials will begin at 3 p.m.

Don't have a pet but wish you did? Pet rescue organizations like the Pennsylvania SPCA, the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance, The Philly Kitty, New Leash on Life and Tiny Paws Rescue will be on location with animals looking for forever homes.

Petapalooza is free to attend. Just pay-as-you-go.
