A Philadelphia man, the former head of a defense contracting firm, was sentenced to 366 days in prison Monday for bribing the U.S. Military for lucrative contracts.
According to the Department of Justice, 37-year-old Justin W. Lee paid more than $1.2 million to military personnel in the form of cash, airline tickets, trips, hotel stays and other things in exchange for the contracts as the president of Lee Dynamics International and previously as an officer for the Kuwaiti-based company American Logistics Services.
Lee pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bribery and four substantive counts of bribery in 2011.
A release from the DOJ at the time said the contracts were for the military's combat operations during the war in Iraq and included the storage of weapons at multimillion dollar facilities as well as bottled water.
His father and co-defendant George Lee was CEO of both companies and was sentenced to 54 months in prison in July for one count of bribery.
Seven high-ranking military contracting officials were also convicted in the investigation, which began in 2006.
