This Thursday, former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Stephen Tulloch will retire from the NFL. He will make his announcement in Detroit, where he played for the Lions for five years after spending five years with the Tennessee Titans.
Fearing a lack of depth as the 2016 regular season was approaching, the Eagles signed Tulloch, a former Jim Schwartz fave, to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. However, Jordan Hicks, Nigel Bradham and Mychal Kendricks stayed healthy all season long, so Tulloch's services weren't needed.
That was a waste of $2.5 million. On the season, Tulloch played just 53 total snaps (6.1 percent) in the regular defense, and he did not play at all on special teams.
The Eagles' current inside linebackers are Hicks and Joe Walker, and they could certainly add to their linebacker depth in the draft.
