A former Delaware County teacher charged with sexually assaulting several students was sentenced Tuesday.
6 ABC reports that Paul Hochschwender, 55, who taught second grade at Darby Township Elementary School in Glenolden, received one to two years in prison and 10 years probation; he will be registered for life as a sexually violent predator.
Hochschwender, a Marple resident, entered no contest pleas in January for charges that he inappropriately touched at least nine female students between 1998 and 2012, according to the Daily Times. Several of the victims at the times of the alleged assaults were 7 years old and students in Hochswender's class.
The families of two 8-year-old victims sued the Southeast Delco School District in February for allegedly covering up the abuses.
He was first arrested in March 2014 and was arrested two subsequent times as more victims came forward. Prosecutor's cited 12 total potential victims during court proceedings.
Hochswender has turned in his teaching certificate and will not be able to teach again.
