When the NFL Draft was held in New York City for all of those years, there wasn’t a major level of hostility directed at any specific team. In a way, it was almost neutral territory. Heck, the New York Jets fans were always the hardest on their own team’s draft picks.
Well, when you put the draft in Philadelphia, that dynamic is going to change. More specifically, the Dallas Cowboys are going to be booed loudly. And longly. Did I mention loudly?
That level of hostility made the back-and-forth between former Cowboys great Drew Pearson, in town to announce Dallas’ second-round pick, and the booing Eagles fans so fantastic.
Pearson didn’t hold back, trolling Eagles fans by thanking them “for allowing him to have a career in the NFL.” And then, almost like a professional wrestling heel, Pearson really hammed up the introduction, essentially telling Eagles fans to COUNT DEM RINGZZZ.
The Eagles fans started to boo even louder, and Pearson announced the pick (Chidobe Awuzie). Full video here:
