Food & Wine maps out vegan guide to Philly

Philadelphia's status as a food destination appeals to all

Sweet potato fries, like the ones offered at HipCityVeg, can be a fun replacement for french fries.

A dish void of meat and dairy may seem a hard hunt in a city where the cheesesteak is king.

But as any plant-based foodie who has ventured through the streets of Philadelphia in search of an Instagram-worthy bite has quickly found, the city really delivers.

Food & Wine writer Regan Stephens mapped out a vegan or vegetarian's up-to-date (published in April 2017) eating guide for Philadelphia, and it includes veteran vegan establishments like Blackbird Pizzeria and a couple of brand-new spots that opened this year: Wiz Kid and Goldie.

Here is the short list of places a vegan or vegetarian must try in Philadelphia, according to Food & Wine: Goldie, Miss Rachel's Pantry, Vedge, V Street, Wiz Kid, HipCityVeg, Charlie Was a Sinner, Bar Bombon, Blackbird Pizzeria and Dottie's Donuts.

The noted restaurants include Vedge, a finer dining restaurant for a fancier meal and/or happy hour that you should make a reservation for, doughnut haven Dottie's Donuts and a bunch of casual anytime joints.
