While it remains to be seen if general manager Ron Hextall swings any big trades at the deadline, his first move was to lock up one of the Flyers’ own. There were rumors flying around Saturday that Michael Raffl would be on the move, but the 27-year-old winger inked a three-year, $7.05 million extension one day later:

“I’ve had easier times walking around the locker room,” Raffl told reporters about Saturday's win over Arizona. “I didn’t know if it was my last time putting that Flyers jersey on.”
With the Flyers’ fluid roster and cap situation all year, Raffl has contributed 17 points in 61 games playing up and down the lineup. He joins Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, Sean Couturier, and Andrew MacDonald as the only current Flyers signed through the 2018-19 season.
The Flyers currently sit three points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the Eastern Conference’s final wild-card spot, with three games remaining against their cross-state rivals.
