Flyers announce public memorial service for Ed Snider

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they'll be holding a public memorial service for late founder and chairman Ed Snider, who passed away on Monday morning at the age of 83 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Father of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey club, family man, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr. Snider was a true visionary in the sports and entertainment industry, and a towering figure in the City of Philadelphia for more than 50 years.  [flyers.nhl.com]

The service will take place at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday, April 21 at 1 p.m. There's no charge to attend and doors will open at 11:30 a.m.
