The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for much of the Philadelphia region, as a mix of rain and melting snow is expected to create an accumulation of water on streets and vulnerable areas.
The warning is in effect from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday afternoon. It covers Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, and extends south to Northern Delaware, west to Harrisburg, north to Allentown and east into Camden County and all the way up to Trenton.
The water from the melting snow and heavy rain could cause widespread flooding in low-lying areas with poor drainage from Wednesday afternoon into the night. Minor to moderate river flooding is also expected, and could cause high waters in the Passaic River Basin in New Jersey and the Schuylkill River Basin in Philadelphia.
Residents in impacted areas are asked to keep with the latest forecasts. Those living in areas prone to flooding are asked to be ready to take action if flooding occurs.
