A flight on its way from New Jersey to Seattle was forced to make an emergency landing Monday morning in Buffalo after a payment device caused a small fire, NBC10 reports.
At about 8 a.m., Alaska Airlines Flight 17 was diverted to Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority spokesman Doug Hartmayer told NBC10.
According to Hartmayer, a credit card reader caught fire.
Passenger Nicole Kleinbaum told NBC10 that it looked more like a tablet device.
Firefighters boarded the plane to ensure the fire was out. No injuries were reported among the 184 passengers and five crew members.
Passengers will continue their journey to Seattle at 4 p.m.
