Colorful anthropomorphic creatures veiled in dewy botanical formations soar through a dizzying backdrop of time and space. No, this is not "Guardians of the Galaxy." This is the weird and wondrous work of Philadelphia-based artist Yis Goodwin, also known as Nosego, a creative sensation who has captured the imaginations of fans all over the world. While his work has taken him to Berlin, Seattle and Mexico -- where he swam with whale sharks -- Nosego still calls Philadelphia home.
You can view a few of his murals in Philadelphia at The Electric Factory, Federal Donuts and House of Hayes. Learn more about Nosego in the interview below.
What do you do when you're not making art?
I'm usually always doing something art-related, but when I'm not painting, I enjoy taking bubble baths.
What is your idea of a perfect day?
I don't really believe in the "perfect day," but I would say most likely a sunny day painting outside with unlimited lemonade would be ideal.
What is the most beautiful thing that happened to you in the last year?
Swimming with whale sharks in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
What are you doing this weekend?
Painting.
Why do you love living in Philadelphia?
I love it here because I feel connected to the city.
