Fire causes partial collapse, forces evacuations in Kensington

A row home explosion and fire in Kensington forced some evacuations Wednesday morning, 6ABC reports.

The fire broke out inside a home in the 300 block of E. Tusculum St. around 5 a.m. The flames spread to the homes on both sides of the building.

Neighboring houses were evacuated. Firefighters appeared to have the fire under control by 6:30 a.m.

Neighbors told 6ABC a man in his 30s lives alone in the home where the fire broke out. Officials said he has been found and is uninjured.

Part of the building collapsed as a result of the fire. Philadelphia Licenses and Inspections was called to the scene.
