2016 marks the 27th year of the Manayunk Arts Festival, taking place for two days beginning June 25. The annual event draws shoppers and art collectors from all over. Many find new statement pieces for their homes, score unique jewelry to impress friends and discover talented artists on-the-rise.
Weave through the lines of white tents to view photography, woodwork, sculptures, ceramics, glassware, paintings, metal work, sketches, jewelry and mixed-media work. Close to 300 artists will showcase their work along Main Street in Manayunk, so prepare for a full afternoon of browsing. The event takes place rain or shine.
For the fifth year, there will also be an Emerging Artists tent. At the intersection of Roxborough and Main streets, young local talent, many of whom are just getting into the business, will have a chance to impress the crowds.
Many of the restaurants and bars along the street will stay open during the festival for hungry or thirsty art lovers.
Those planning on using public transportation, biking or using the provided shuttle service to attend the event may want to check out the event's guide on how to get to the festival before heading over.
