Fiery crash closes northbound lanes of NJ Turnpike

Traffic Center suggests using I-295 northbound between Exits 1 and 2

The northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike in Gloucester County are closed following an early morning fiery crash involving two tractor-trailers, a tour bus and a car.

According to CBS3, the incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday between Exits 1 and 2 on the turnpike in Woolwich Township.

A witness at the scene told NBC10 that one of the tractor-trailers rear-ended the unoccupied bus, and while both drivers were out of the vehicles, another tractor-trailer and a car came upon the crash and weren't able to stop.

The second tractor-trailer hit the car, sending both into the original crash and causing the truck to burst into flames, NBC10 reported the witness as saying.

Two people were injured in the incident, but their conditions have not been reported.

The Traffic Center is suggesting I-295 northbound as an alternate route between Exits 1 and 2. The southbound lanes of the turnpike are not affected.
