The United States Attorney's Office in Philadelphia announced charges Thursday against a Montgomery County man who allegedly produced child pornography for more than a decade by filming children in changing rooms at the Dorney Park theme park.

Kurt Eichert, 51, of Wyndmoor, has been charged with one count of production of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography, according to an indictment released Thursday by United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

The indictment alleges that from June 2005 to about September 2015, Eichert produced child pornography by recording children changing their clothes at the theme park in Allentown.

Eichert is also charged with distributing child pornography in May and possessing images of child pornography in September, authorities said.

If convicted, Eichert faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison with a maximum possible sentence of 80 years, the U.S. Attorney's Office notes.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, prosecutors said.

Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood is a way to organize federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
