Police say that a father accidentally lost control of his car Friday night, striking and killing his 17-year-old son in Delaware County, 6 ABC reports.
The incident occurred on the 300 block of Cheswold Road in Drexel Hill. The father crashed in to a garage where the son was inside, hitting the teen who later died from his injuries, according to NBC Philadelphia.
The identities of the father and son have not yet been released, while the reason for the father losing control of his car is still unknown. Police are currently investigating the incident.
The Upper Darby Police Department expressed their condolences on their Facebook page:
Tragedy in Drexel Hill last night on the 300 block of Cheswold. Father loses control of vehicle, strikes and kills 17 year old son. Our thought and prayers go out to the family.
Upper Darby Township Mayor Tom Miccozie did the same in a comment on the post:
On behalf of the entire Upper Darby Comunity we send our deepest sympathy and prayers to the family.
