If out-of-town relatives are visiting for Thanksgiving this year, ditch the run on the museum steps and opt for a lazier Philly-themed activity: watching "Creed."

The "Rocky" spinoff premieres Wednesday, Nov. 25, with select earlier screenings on Tuesday, Nov. 24. In the movie, former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of Balboa's late friend and former rival Apollo Creed. Sylvester Stallone reprises his iconic role and also produces, with Michael B. Jordan ("The Wire," "Friday Night Lights") in the starring role.
For those going to watch "Creed" in theaters, here is a roundup of five venues with upgraded amenities.
Movie Tavern: Flourtown
This theater, which opened in September, is located a few minutes from Chestnut Hill. What makes this spot ideal for Thanksgiving weekend is that a complete dining experience is provided. Guests can order from an extensive menu of food, drinks and bar items, which are delivered directly to movie-goers as they watch the big screen. The seats are fully reclining, under guest control and can be chosen ahead of time.

AMC Plymouth Meeting Mall 12
With a recent overhaul in the past year, this theater by Conshohocken has been completely upgraded. Gourmet chocolate is available, along with other filling snacks and candies. There is also a custom soda machine that lets guests create any number of combinations. For the 21-plus crowd, there is a theater bar called MacGuffins. The name is a nod to Alfred Hitchcock, who coined the term, which references a plot device that motivates the characters and advances the story. Think the ring in "Lord of the Rings." Seats here recline, can be chosen ahead of time and have movable arm rests.

Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462

This theater, located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, also has reclining seats with movable arm rests. Since the theater is located within a shopping center, visitors can grab a bite to eat at a wide range of restaurants before their movie. Thai, seafood, pizza, sushi and more options can be found.

This recently opened theater is just a quick walk from the 69th Street SEPTA station. Besides a convenient location, this theater also offers an in-theater dining experience for guests. Choose from a full food, drink and bar menu that can be enjoyed while the movie plays. Seats can also be chosen ahead of time.

Cinemark University City Penn 6
This theater along Walnut Street is easily accessible by public transportation and offers student discounts, which is handy for University of Pennsylvania and Drexel students nearby. An in-theater bar for guests, a restaurant and free Wi-Fi can also be found at this location.

Philadelphia, PA 19104

Other theaters in Philadelphia and their movie times can be found at Fandango.
However, if relatives are really set on a Rocky tour through the city, there are multiple locations to choose from besides the iconic statue. The Irish Pub at 2007 Walnut St., from "Rocky Balboa," is an easy compromise.
