A temporary failure of the air-conditioning system caused Allentown City Hall and the Public Safety Building to close Wednesday, the city announced.
The system stopped working Tuesday, and temperatures in some parts of the building exceeded 86 degrees.
Replacement parts are not expected to be available until late next week, but a portable chiller trailer is being transported to the city from Newark, New Jersey.
Both buildings are expected to re-open Thursday, May 27.
