After his exit from ESPN, Bill Simmons clearly had big plans for the near future. He landed a TV show with HBO, relaunched his podcast under a new umbrella, and announced today that he’s starting Grantland 2, a website called “The Ringer.”
The Ringer will be "the exclusive home to all of Simmons' written material," according to his spokesman, while HBO will be his home on TV.
It will start as an email newsletter in mid-March. The actual site "will debut sometime this late spring or early summer," the spokesman said.
The Ringer, which already features a bunch of of ex-Grantlanders, will be part of a new company called “Bill Simmons Media Group.” And it’s safe to say Simmons still isn’t too happy with how the ESPN experience ended:
