Ever since Chip Kelly and the Eagles released him in June, Evan Mathis has been a man without a team to play for. Despite being viewed extremely highly in some football circles (Pro Football Focus comes to mind), teams apparently weren't clamoring to pay a soon-to-be 34-year-old guard the type of money that Mathis was reportedly seeking. Finally, the two-time Pro Bowler has found a landing spot with only a couple of weeks remaining before the regular season starts:
Letting Mathis go was a risk for the Eagles, who didn't acquire more line depth in free agency or the draft. From a financial perspective, Mathis sitting out the team's organized team activities has backfired, as he was originally scheduled to make $5.5 million from the Eagles in 2015.
