Ellen DeGeneres 'shutting down a couple of blocks' in Philly

Comedian and daytime television talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is doing *something* in Philly Wednesday. What is that something? We have no idea.

In a semi-ominous tweet Monday night, DeGeneres said that she'll be "shutting down a couple of blocks" on Walnut Street, adding that whatever she's doing is going to be fun.

In an email, city spokesperson Ajeenah Amir said that Walnut Street from Broad to 17th streets would be shut down for the "live remote" event, starting at 2 p.m. The closure will be lifted by 7 p.m.

Here's the thing though: DeGeneres herself won't be in Philly. She clarified as much in a followup tweet Tuesday morning, although she will be "connecting" with her fans in the city via satellite, a representative of the Philadelphia Film Office told Philly.com

DeGeneres also tweeted later in the afternoon that fans of the show "better be free" at 4 p.m. if they want to appear on the talk show.

We'll update this post if we find any additional information on the event.
