Friends and family will gather Friday at a viewing to remember Kara Lemanowicz, a 14-year-old freshman at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, New Jersey, who died last week while at a sleepover for the school soccer team in Mantua Township.
Lemanowicz was found unresponsive on the morning of Sept. 5 and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators told NBC10 they believe a previously unknown medical condition likely killed her.
Eastern Regional High School girls soccer coach Jamie McGroarty, who had known Lemanowicz since she was a child, told NBC10 that she was “a goofy, fun-loving kid who always was smiling."
Lemanowicz was set to play on the high school team as a freshman.
NBC10 reports another viewing will be held Saturday morning, and the family will hold a private cremation and internment ceremony.
Today EGS says goodbye to our Kara. Your light will shine through us. Thank you for being a part of our lives. ♥️♥️#11⚽️. #weplayforyou
