The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced that they signed three players three players today -- QB McLeod Bethel Thompson, LB Don Cherry, and S Nick Perry.
To say that Bethel-Thompson (to be hence forth referred to as "MBT") has bounced around is an understatement. According to his Wikipedia page, MBT has played for 11 teams (mostly on practice squads) since leaving Sacramento State in 2011:
The Eagles were team number 12, when they signed him back in February. He lasted with the team until May 17, when he was released. Now he's back, again.
It feels unlikely that the Eagles will give MBT any meaningful snaps with Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz already in place. It is more likely that MBT will run the scout team offense.
Cherry was an undrafted free agent signing of the Chicago Bears, who released him a month ago. Cherry played at Villanova, where he had 331 career tackles, 46 tackles for a loss, and 14 sacks.
To be clear, this is not the Nick Perry the Packers drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. This is the Nick Perry who was a safety at Alabama, before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. Perry spent the season on Baltimore's practice squad, which is at least mildly interesting considering the Eagles poached Vice President of Player Personnel Joe Douglas from the Ravens earlier this offseason.
