With the 20th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who was one of the first players the Eagles brought in for a visit to the NovaCare complex.
Agholor started slowly in 2014, but look at how he finished:
Nelson Agholor, 2014 | Rec | Yards | YPC | TD |
Fresno State | 5 | 57 | 11.4 | 2 |
Stanford | 9 | 91 | 10.1 | 0 |
Boston College | 9 | 64 | 7.1 | 1 |
Oregon State | 3 | 27 | 9.0 | 0 |
Arizona State | 9 | 85 | 9.4 | 0 |
Arizona | 7 | 81 | 11.6 | 1 |
Colorado | 6 | 128 | 21.3 | 3 |
Utah | 10 | 110 | 11 | 0 |
Washington State | 8 | 220 | 27.5 | 1 |
California | 16 | 216 | 13.5 | 2 |
UCLA | 3 | 24 | 8.0 | 0 |
Notre Dame | 12 | 120 | 10.0 | 1 |
Nebraska | 7 | 90 | 12.9 | 1 |
First six games: 48 catches, 405 yards, 9.6 YPC 4 TD. Unimpressive.
Last seven games: 62 catches, 908 yards, 14.6 YPC, 8 TD. Very impressive.
Agholor is slightly undersized (6'0, 198) but fast (4.42 40). He is a polished route runner with great hands and has value on special teams as a punt returner. By all accounts, he is also viewed as a great competitor with high character (#culture).
"He’s dialed in as a football player," said Chip Kelly, speaking to reporters at the NovaCare Complex. "He’s in the Jordan Matthews category in terms of his approach to the game, and always striving to be better. The great thing about Nelson is that he has a growth mindset, not a fixed mindset. He’s always trying to get better."
Agholor spoke via phone to the Eagles' website guys, and promised a little "ECP":
Agholor ended with saying that the three things #Eagles fans can expect are things he can control: effort, concentration and preparation

Wide receiver became a gaping hole on the Eagles' roster after Jeremy Maclin bolted for the Chiefs in free agency. Perhaps not so coincidentally, Agholor is often compared to Maclin, in terms of size and skill set. Agholor will join a wide receiver corps of Jordan Matthews, Riley Cooper, Josh Huff, and Miles Austin.
