Chase Daniel's tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles included one pass attempt, a 16-yard completion in a win over the New York Giants Week 16 last season. He also served as something of a mentor to rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

For that one pass attempt, Daniel ate up $5 million in cap space in 2016. He'll also count for a yet-to-be-determined cap penalty (up to $7 million) in 2017 following the Eagles' decision to release him Monday night.
After the Eagles signed Nick Foles Monday morning to a two-year deal, it was initially reported by ESPN that Daniel asked for his release, noting that he sees himself as a starter in the NFL. While he may see himself as a starter, the rest of the NFL does not, or they would have traded for him. After all, the Eagles were able to obtain draft picks in return for Matt Barkley and Mark Sanchez once upon a time.
The Eagles released a statement on Daniel via Twitter:
It's difficult to assign a value to Daniel's mentorship to Wentz, however, as a player, Daniel did not look anything like an "NFL starter" in training camp or the preseason. There's no way to sugarcoat it – This was an awful contract.
