UPDATE: So, the Eagles didn't release Allen Barbre after all. Instead, they traded him to the Denver Broncos for a conditional draft pick in 2019, per the team.
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Wednesday that they have released tackle/guard Allen Barbre. This news comes a few hours after offensive coordinator Frank Reich said that the Eagles would begin training camp with second-year player Isaac Seumalo as the starting left guard, the position Barbre held last season.
Barbre was among the players identified by PhillyVoice via a source back in January as a potential cap casualty, as the team was expected to free up a significant amount of cap space.
We noted at the time that Barbre proved to be a versatile player in 2016, playing multiple positions along the offensive line. At a minimum, he is a competent reserve. However, he has a history of injuries, he turned 33 in June, and his quality season last year has not been the norm over his career.

The Eagles' starting five along the offensive line will look like this when the full team takes the field tomorrow:

By releasing Barbre, the team will save $2.1 million in cap space.
